Job Description: Veterinary Research - Clinical Research Coordinator
Position Overview:
The Clinical Research Coordinator in Veterinary Research is responsible for coordinating and managing clinical research activities within a veterinary medicine setting. This role involves collaborating with veterinarians, researchers, and other stakeholders to facilitate the successful execution of clinical trials and research studies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate and oversee the execution of clinical research projects, ensuring adherence to protocols, timelines, and regulatory requirements.
2. Collaborate with veterinary professionals and researchers to develop and refine research protocols, study designs, and data collection methodologies.
3. Recruit and screen potential research participants (both animal patients and human subjects) according to study criteria.
4. Conduct comprehensive assessments of animal patients, including physical examinations, sample collection, and medical history documentation.
5. Ensure accurate and timely data collection, recording, and analysis using appropriate software and tools.
6. Maintain and update research databases and electronic medical records for enrolled participants.
7. Coordinate the scheduling of research-related procedures, follow-up visits, and consultations with study participants.
8. Assist in obtaining informed consent from research participants, ensuring compliance with ethical guidelines and regulations.
9. Monitor and report adverse events, deviations from protocols, and any other concerns to the relevant stakeholders.
10. Collaborate with veterinary staff to provide appropriate care and treatment to research animals, ensuring their welfare throughout the study period.
11. Prepare and maintain research-related documentation, including study protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and regulatory submissions.
12. Serve as a liaison between investigators, sponsors, regulatory authorities, and other key stakeholders.
13. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations, guidelines, and best practices in veterinary clinical research.
14. Contribute to the identification and implementation of process improvements to enhance the efficiency and quality of research activities.
15. Assist in the preparation of research reports, manuscripts, and presentations for scientific conferences or publications.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science, Biological Sciences, or a related field. (Master's degree preferred)
2. Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a clinical research role, preferably within a veterinary medicine or animal health setting.
3. Strong understanding of veterinary medical terminology, procedures, and animal welfare principles.
4. Proficiency in conducting physical examinations, collecting samples, and administering treatments to animals.
5. Familiarity with research methodologies, study design, and data collection techniques.
6. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
7. Attention to detail and accuracy in recording and analyzing data.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
9. Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and ethical guidelines governing veterinary clinical research.
10. Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems and data management software.
11. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
12. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing research needs and priorities.
